Voter turnout for this year’s general election topped 70 percent in each of the Defiance area’s six counties

Voter turnout for this year’s general election topped 70 percent in each of the Defiance area’s six counties. Putnam County led the way with turnout of 82.2 percent. That figure includes 510 uncounted absentee and provisional ballots. That figure appears to be the highest of any of Ohio’s 88 counties, according to figures available on the Ohio Secretary of State’s Office website. The five remaining area counties all saw turnouts above 72 percent. Turnout in Defiance County totaled 73.6 percent. The figure includes 594 uncounted absentee and provisional ballots which will be counted when the Election Day totals are certified by the board of elections. The figure is similar to what Defiance County experienced during the previous two presidential elections (in 2012 and 2008).
