Open house held to discuss a feasibility study for relocating Ohio 66 away from downtown Archbold

A couple hundred people attended an open house to discuss a feasibility study for relocating Ohio 66 away from downtown Archbold. The public meeting that was held Tuesday at Northwest State Community College, dealt with a proposal to relocate Ohio 66 to Fulton County Road 24. The purpose of the proposed project is to reduce truck traffic as well as traffic congestion through the village and provide a more direct route between the Ohio Turnpike and U.S. 6. Robert Seaman, village engineer for Archbold, said he was pleased with the turnout for the event. Seaman said the conversations dealt with residents on County Road 24, who don’t want to see an increase in traffic on that road, and business owners, who think the project would hurt downtown businesses. He said the purpose of the meeting was really to talk about the project’s feasibility.
