Ohio’s unemployment rate ticked downward in the month of October, decreasing in 75 counties, and the local four-county area remained under state and national averages. The state rate was down to 4.6 percent from 4.8 in September and 4.7 in August. The national rate was 4.7 percent for the month of October, down from 4.8 percent in September. However, the rates in Ohio’s four northwesternmost counties remained below the state and national average. Williams County’s rate dropped to 4.1 percent in October from 4.4 in September and 4.1 in August. The rate, however, is up from 3.7 percent in October 2015. Williams was the only county in the area to have an unemployment rate that didn’t sync completely with October 2015 numbers.
