23-foot bronze sculpture gets permanent home at TMOA

An outdoor figurative sculpture that has towered over the Toledo Museum of Art’s main campus landscape for the last six months will now be a part of its permanent collection. The Toledo Blade reports the museum’s board of trustees unanimously approved the acquisition Thursday of Paula, a 23-foot bronze sculpture by Barcelona artist Jaume Plensa, museum director Brian Kennedy confirmed Monday. Kennedy made mention of the purchase during a presentation at Rotary Club of Toledo meeting on Monday. The sculpture, which weighs over 17 tons, was transported to the museum in June in five sections, and installed by a 170-foot high crane, as part of the exhibition called Human Landscape.
