Four-year package of water and sewer rates approved by Defiance City Council

A new four-year package of water and sewer rates was approved by Defiance City Council Tuesday night. Council also discussed a recent citizens input rule change and snow removal requirements. Separate ordinances for water and sewer rate changes that were let lie at council’s Dec. 13 meeting were approved Tuesday, and will take effect in time for this month’s billing cycle. The adjustment to the water and sewer rates eliminates a minimal usage of 330 cubic feet of water per month for residential customers to reflect actual usage and does away with a debt service charge for EPA-related projects, according to city finance director John Lehner.
