Work on the Montpelier Exempted Village Schools district’s new athletic building is on hold

Work on the Montpelier Exempted Village Schools district’s new athletic building is on hold for at least two weeks. School superintendent Jamie Grime informed board members of the delay at the regular school board meeting on Tuesday. Grime stated the reason for the delay is because there are problems determining how the utilities will be connected from the 2006 building to the planned athletic building on the north side. He added if the district gets it worked out in two weeks, a special board meeting will be called to approve the design and a detailed estimate of construction costs. The estimated $2.5 million new building, to be constructed north of the main school, will house an athletic complex, community center and lab space.
