Williams County Sheriff Steven Towns provided answers to village council’s questions about dedicated deputy patrol service within Holiday City at Thursday’s meeting. The Bryan Times reports a contract proposed by Towns calls for an officer to work 30 hours per week based on a 10-year average of about 100 calls for police service to the village each year. These additional service hours, beyond current patrols, would likely be during evening hours when there is more activity. According to city officials, although a specific dollar amount for the service was not discussed Thursday, a similar contract in Liberty Center is around $37,500 per year.
