James Wrinkle, 82

James E. Wrinkle, age 82, of Bryan, Ohio, died at 8:15 P.M. on Thursday, June 27, 2013 at Genesis Healthcare in Bryan where he was a patient after a brief illness. Mr. Wrinkle was a 1948 graduate of Edgerton High School and worked for the Leader Enterprise in Montpelier, Ohio as a printer’s apprentice. He joined the United States Army where he served in Korea as a radioman. After his release from the military in 1953, he joined the Bryan Times working in layout and print of the paper and later became a sports reporter and eventually sports editor. Jim could be seen at boys and girls athletics events for decades, covering everything from Little League to state championships, as well as some college athletic events, pacing the sideline with his camera and scratch pad at the ready. He retired from the Bryan Times in 1997 and continued to contribute articles until 2002. During his retirement he also was a freelance contributor to the Frank Talk newspaper. His career with the newspapers spanned nearly six decades, everything from hot lead to digital. Known for his passion for bowling, he was a member of the Bowling Writers of Association of America and continued to bowl until recently when he became ill. James E. Wrinkle was born on August 12, 1930, in Edgerton, Ohio, the son of Dora and Verle (Claudy) Wrinkle. He married Dorothy M. Wickert on May 27, 1961, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and she preceded him in death on October 26, 2010.

Also surviving are one son, David (Kathy) Wrinkle, of Beavercreek, Ohio, one grandson, Cade Wrinkle, and a brother, Robert (Donna) Wrinkle of Edgerton. He was preceded in death by his parents, an infant daughter, Beth Ann Wrinkle, in 1966, and one sister, Jeanice Harrold.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday July 2, 2013 from 4:00-8:00 P.M. in the Krill Funeral Home, 860 West Mulberry Street, Bryan. Private family grave side services will be held at later date in Brown Cemetery near Bryan.

Memorials are requested to a charity of the donors choice.
