A public meeting will be held Thursday in Defiance to discuss a planned riverbank project in Pontiac Park. The meeting is scheduled from 5:30-7 p.m. in the community room of the city service building, 631 Perry St. The purpose is to seek input on a riverbank stabilization project planned as early as May at Pontiac, a park owned by the Defiance County Metro Parks Board but maintained by the city. The city, working with the metro parks board, has been awarded a $400,000 Great Lakes Restoration Initiative grant through the Ohio EPA. The GLRI is a federally-funded program to improve water quality in the Great Lakes.
