TRAIN DERAILS IN WILLIAMS COUNTY

The Williams County Sheriff’s Office reports that a train derailed Wednesday afternoon just before 2:30 between County Roads 8 and 9.

The sheriff’s office confirms that the Norfolk Southern train was not carrying any hazardous materials and there were no injuries.

The derailment occured at the same place where another Norfolk Southern train left the tracks in April of 2010, when 24 homes were evacuated due to leaking chemicals.

Investigators say Wednesday’s mishap was possibly caused by strong straight line winds.
