Genie Garza, 66, of Bryan passed away Sunday afternoon at Community Hospitals and Wellness Centers in Bryan. She was born on July 15, 1950 in Montpelier to Eugene Franklin and Patricia Ruth (Ferguson) Gordon.
Genie was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Montpelier. She graduated from Montpelier High School in 1968, and from Northwest State Technical College as an LPN in 1970. Genie worked at various medical facilities and doctors’ offices in the Tri-State area for many years. She enjoyed watching Michigan sports, the Cleveland Browns and the Cleveland Indians. She loved music, especially Rock and Roll.
She is survived by her three sons, Andy (Stefanie) Brigle of Edon, Joe (Monica) Brigle of Montpelier and James E. Garza of Montpelier; and five grandchildren, Kaylyn, Kennedy, Landon, Lainey and Libbey Brigle.
Genie was preceded in death by her parents and two infant brothers.
A time to receive friends will be on Friday, March 31st from 10-11am at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Montpelier. A memorial mass will follow at 11am at the church with Father Jim Halleron to officiate. A private interment will take place at Riverside Cemetery in Montpelier. Memorial contributions may be given to the Rosary Altar Society.
