Dorothy B. Ernsberger, 92

Dorothy B. Ernsberger, 92 years, of Bryan, passed away Monday, March 27, 2017 at Genesis HealthCare-Bryan Center, where she was a resident. Dorothy was born July 1, 1924 in Bryan, the daughter of the late Charles and Bessie (Beard) Shuster. She was a 1942 graduate of Bryan High School. She married Robert L. “Bob” Ernsberger on June 21, 1946, and he preceded her in death on December 30, 2003. Dorothy was employed by the City of Bryan as a Secretary in the Engineer’s Office for 17 years. Prior to this, she was a Dental Assistant for Dr. D. S. Teters, DDS for 15 years. Dorothy was also a co-owner of Bob’s Gulf/Marathon from 1947 – 2001. She was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church, Bryan American Legion Post 284 Ladies Auxiliary, Bryan Business and Professional Women and the Bryan Lioness Club. She enjoyed needlepoint and caring for her cats and watching birds and squirrels outside her window.

Surviving Dorothy are three sisters-in-law, Alice (Earl) Shankster of Bryan, Wilma (Phil) White of Waterford, Michigan and Vada (Tom) Scribner of Toledo; cousins, John (Tammy) Traylor of Hillsdale, Michigan, Bob (Betty) Girdem of Osseo, Michigan and Rob (Mary Ann) Beard of Bowling Green, Ohio and Doris Carlin of Bryan, as well as many nieces and nephews, including special niece Jeanne (Randy) Shankster of Bryan and great-niece, Katie Shankster. Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Bob, in-laws, Jim and Betty Kuszmaul and Marvel and Bill Runkle.

Memorial services for Dorothy B. Ernsberger will be held at 4:00 p.m. Saturday, April 1, 2017 in Wesley United Methodist Church with Rev. Becky Schofield Motter officiating. Friends will be received at the church one hour prior to the service beginning at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. Private burial was made in Fountain Grove Cemetery. Arrangements are under the care of Oberlin-Turnbull Funeral Home-Greenisen Chapel, 225 East High Street, Bryan.
