Bryan City Schools’ Shaffer Field will get a facelift this summer. The Bryan Times reports the board of education on Monday approved advertising for bids for a project that will bring the field’s terraced north seating section into Americans With Disabilities Act Compliance after a court order was issued. Superintendent Diana Savage said plans are to put a non-slip, non-skid surface on the first two levels and will also need to be able to supply, if needed, companion chairs for anyone who may need them. Defiance-based firm Beilharz Architects estimates the required project will cost the district around $90,000. Work is expected to get underway this summer.
