12th annual Lilac Festival will be held from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. May 13 in downtown Defiance

The 12th annual Lilac Festival will be held from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. May 13 in downtown Defiance. To symbolize the designated city flower, free lilac seedlings will be prepared by the Defiance County Master Gardeners and distributed while supplies last. In addition, there will be 50 lilac bushes available for purchase as an inspiration to increase the lilac supply within the community. Clinton Street, between Second and Fourth streets, will be closed, as will Third Street from Perry Street to Wayne Avenue. This closure will create more of an open market effect creating more room and greater safety for participants. East Fourth Street will be closed to create room for Motorcycle Awareness Day activities, which are joining the Lilac Festival this year. These street closings will begin at 7 a.m. May 13.
