What began as a single grain elevator and one man’s dream grew into a publicly traded company with diverse interests. Now The Andersons announced its last day of business will be Saturday, June 3, 2017. In January, the company said it would close four retail stores, including two in Columbus, one in Maumee, and one in Toledo. The Maumee store is on Illinois Ave and its Toledo location is on Talmadge Road. The company said stores will open 9 a.m. – 8 p.m. on Friday, May 26 and Saturday, May 27, and 9 a.m. – 7 p.m. on Sunday, May 28. Hours will change to 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. starting Memorial Day until June 3. The Andersons was founded in Maumee in 1947.
