On Monday evening, the Stryker Village Council approved the first reading of an ordinance establishing a tentative agreement for urban development in town in order to cultivate marijuana for medicinal purposes only. Councilmen Lee Armstrong, Rex Blevins, Brook Oberlin and Robert Sperling voted in favor of the ordinance, with council member Lana Tompkins voting against it. Due to Tompkins’ no vote and the absence of Councilman Mick Frisbie, council did not have the majority votes needed to pass the ordinance as an emergency measure, necessitating second and third readings over the next two council meetings before it is passed or voted down. As the first vote stands, the village is willing to approve a tentative agreement under the Ohio Revised Code to Ohio Leaf Relief (OLR). If the ordinance is approved, OLR must submit a cultivation application to the state.
