Wauseon City Council members considered legislation on medical marijuana and heard a presentation on a proposed ballot initiative for victims’ rights in an otherwise brief Monday session. Council members approved the first reading of an ordinance which would prevent “any person from opening or operating a business or commercial enterprise as a cultivator, processor, or retail dispenser of medical marijuana within the corporate limits of the city.” State legislation passed in 2016 authorizes the legislative authority of a municipal corporation or board of township trustees to adopt regulations to prohibit or limit the number of retail medical marijuana dispensaries and related activities.
