Local chef Jim Elser will be appearing yet again on the Cooking Channel. The Ney native’s barbecue-based career takes a giant leap forward on America’s birthday, as he has another TV appearance debuting on Independence Day. Elser and his “Sweet Smoke Q” team, which won $70,000 in prize money in 2016 over 39 barbecue competitions including 10 overall victories, will appear on the special fourth of July reality show Big Bad BBQ Brawl on the Cooking Channel. The network is jumping into July with series premieres and all-new seasons and episodes of returning favorites, highlighted by an all-new special Big Bad BBQ Brawl from Florida: The Kissimmee Valley Rib Rodeo on Tuesday, July 4th at 8pm Eastern/5pm Pacific Time.
