Officials in Williams County agree in a 2-1 vote to make the budget adjustments necessary to add two new sheriff’s deputies. Sheriff, Steve Towns requested roughly $160,000 in what he referred to as “monetary adjustments” to meet obligations for this year. Sheriff Towns also asked for an additional $222,000 for both 2018 and 2019. He said those amounts would cover the cost of raises as a result of a recently ratified union contract, plus salaries, benefits and vehicle costs for two additional deputies through 2019.
