Former local accused of shooting and injuring his sister brought back to Defiance County.

After being detained in western Indiana a few days ago, a former local who is accused of shooting and injuring his sister on March 21 has been brought back to Defiance County. John Okuley, 63, of Columbus, is accused of felonious assault, a second-degree crime, and attempted murder, a first-degree felony. Okuley was detained on Wednesday at the Northwest Ohio Corrections Center. According to Defiance County Sheriff Doug Engel, he allegedly used a 9mm handgun to shoot his sister, Mary Simons, twice on March 21 on Painter Road after a family argument over an estate.
