Election time is coming. So, Bryan city officials are reminding residents that freestanding political signs can be in place no earlier than 30 days before an election and must be at least 10 feet behind the sidewalk of public right of way. Also, sign faces can be no larger than six square feet. With the general election on Tuesday, Nov. 7, signs can go up no earlier than the first week of October. Violating the sign code is a misdemeanor, punishable by a fine up to $500 and a six-month jail sentence.
