The High­way Patrol reports that a rou­tine traf­fic stop evolved into a high speed chase on Mon­day evening.
Troop­ers attempted to stop a pick-up truck on Ohio 576 near Mont­pe­lier after it was clocked at 77 miles per hour in a 55 zone.
Rather than stop, the dri­ver sped south on Ohio 576, crossed over to two other state routes and then sped through Mont­pe­lier.
Ricky Hicks of Mont­pe­lier was finally stopped by police when he stopped at his house after a 16 mile chase.
Hicks was arrested and taken to the Cor­rec­tions Cen­ter of North­west Ohio.
