The Steuben County Sheriff’s Office says for the second summer in a row, there were no major boating accidents or drownings on lakes in Steuben County.
The Steuben County Sheriff Office Marine Patrol spent 542.5 hours on county lakes. That amounts to the equivalent of about 22 days.
Officers issued 156 warnings and 11 tickets, provided 68 boater assists, and arrested two people for boating while intoxicated this season.
The statistics provided by the Sheriff’s Department do not include activity by the Indiana Department of Natural Resources which also patrols some county lakes.
