STEUBEN SHERIFF ISSUES LAKE REPORT

The Steuben County Sheriff’s Office says for the sec­ond sum­mer in a row, there were no major boat­ing acci­dents or drown­ings on lakes in Steuben County.

The Steuben County Sher­iff Office Marine Patrol spent 542.5 hours on county lakes. That amounts to the equiv­a­lent of about 22 days.

Offi­cers issued 156 warn­ings and 11 tick­ets, pro­vided 68 boater assists, and arrested two peo­ple for boat­ing while intox­i­cated this sea­son.

The sta­tis­tics pro­vided by the Sheriff’s Depart­ment do not include activ­ity by the Indi­ana Depart­ment of Nat­ural Resources which also patrols some county lakes.
