Sheriff Race Meeting Set

Another protest letter by Sheriff, Steve Towns has been added to the list of formal written protests filed with the county elections board by the four candidates in the March primary race for Williams County sheriff. Ten have been released, now. The three other candidates all allege Towns is ineligible for the ballot after his conviction in Nov. in Bryan Municipal Court on a first-degree misdemeanor charge of disseminating confidential information in a child abuse case. Towns is appealing. So now, the elections board has a hearing on Towns’ candidacy set for Monday. The meeting is open to the public.
