Cars were lined up from one entrance, curved around the back and down to the other entrance of the Williams County United Way office on East High Street in Bryan…for their food drive. One by one, four members of the National Guard packed people’s vehicles with food. Bags of potatoes and apples were put into trunks…along with sacks, filled with pasta, canned meat and vegetables. Plenty of sweets were handed out, too. Pies, cakes, muffins, cookies…the whole nine yards. Together, they were able to hand out food to 66 local families in the first hour of the planned three-hour food drive. Prior to the event, 80 families had registered.
