E. Jean (DeGroff) Good, 94 years, of Bryan, passed away Monday, December 16, 2013 at Community Hospitals and Wellness Centers, Bryan. Jean was born March 7, 1919 in Williams County, Ohio, the daughter of the late Clarence E. and Florence Belle (Laser) DeGroff. She was a 1937 graduate of Bryan High School. She married Bernard William Good on June 21, 1972 in Fairfax City, Virginia, and he preceded her in death on June 10, 1999. Jean began her working career as a secretary for H & K Trucking. She then worked as a civilian payroll employee for the Sacramento War Department. For the next 20 years, from 1945 until 1965, Jean was a secretary for Sterling Life Insurance Company in Chicago. Jean then moved and began working as the Director of foreign Operations for American Marietta. Jean was a secretary for the Law Firm of Gull, Lane and Powell in Washington, DC. From 1970 until her retirement in 1986, Jean worked for her husband at B.W. Good Enterprises. She was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church in Bryan and Suntree United Methodist Church in Melbourne, Florida. She was a former volunteer for the Alzheimer’s Association. Jean was an avid golfer, and was a member of Suntree Country Club in Melbourne, Florida.
Surviving is her son, Rev. John R. (Carolyn) Good of Woodstock, Vermont; two daughters, Beverly (Dr. Steven) Anderson-Golde of Woodstock, Vermont and Karyn (Mark) Belknap of Onancock, Virginia; four brothers, Clarence (Roma) DeGroff, Jr. of Bryan, James (Sharon) DeGroff of LaQuinta, California, Bruce (Louise) DeGroff of Winchester, Virginia and Norman (Barbara) DeGroff of Bryan. She was preceded in death by her husband and six brothers, Robert, Maurice, Brooks, Richard, Harold and Morton DeGroff.
