Nancy Anne Schartzer, 91 years, of Bryan, passed away Thursday, January 9, 2014 in her home in Bryan. Nancy was born February 22, 1922 in Toledo, Ohio, the daughter of the late Paul S. and Dorothy (Diebel) Mason. She was a 1940 graduate of Defiance High School. Nancy married John William Schartzer on October 13, 1945 in Defiance, and he preceded her in death on February 16, 2010. Nancy was a sales clerk at the former Carroll-Ames in Bryan for 25 years. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Bryan. Nancy was a volunteer for Meals on Wheels. She also assisted with Outreach and the weekly free meal prepared by the Presbyterian Church. She loved to play bridge, go to auctions and garage sales. She dearly loved her cat Rusty and her friends.
Surviving is her daughter, Sue Ann Schartzer of Muskegon, Michigan; daughter-in-law, Susan Schartzer of Goshen, Indiana and one brother, Peter Mason of Sparks, Nevada. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, John, her son, Joel Schartzer and two brothers, William and Richard Mason.
A springtime gathering will be held to celebrate Nancy’s life. Interment will be made in Brown Cemetery. Arrangements are under the care of Oberlin-Turnbull Funeral Home, 206 North Lynn Street, Bryan, Ohio.
