Alice A. Vetter, 95 years of Hicksville, passed away Tuesday, November 1, 2022, at Kingsbury Place, Defiance, where she has resided the past several months. Alice was born August 30, 1927, in Fort Jennings, Ohio, the daughter of the late Lawrence and Ida (Kaverman) Schimmoeller. She was a 1945 graduate of Fort Jennings High School. Alice married Cletus F. Vetter on June 1, 1946, in Fort Jennings, Ohio, and he preceded her in death on November 14, 2015. She was a devoted wife and mother, focused on caring and providing the absolute best for her family as she helped her husband on the family farm. Alice was a member of St. Michael Catholic Church, Hicksville, the Rosary Altar Society, Fairview Grange, and St. Michael’s Study Club. Alice loved to play pinochle and spending time with her family.
Surviving are her nine children, Dan (Loraine) Vetter of Hicksville, Beth (Tony) Shininger of Sherwood, Mary (Leo) Shininger of Defiance, Dennis (Sheryl) Vetter of Hicksville, Tony (Cheryl) Vetter of Bowling Green, Sharon (Tom) Streng of Indian Rocks Beach, Florida, Sue (James) Ball of Painesville, Ohio, Larry (Amy) Vetter of Fort Myers, Florida, and Jeff (Marj) Vetter of Spencerville, Indiana; daughter-in-law, Elaine Vetter of Gainesville, Georgia; 25 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren; three brothers, Norman (Margaret) Schimmoeller, Jack (MaryAnn) Schimmoeller and Lou (Eileen) Schimmoeller all of Fort Jennings; one sister, Betty (Orville) Neidert of Fort Jennings; her son by choice, David Arias Vetter of Fort Walton, Florida. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Cletus; one son, Ed Vetter; grandson, Brian; three brothers, Ken, Rich, and Jim Schimmoeller.
Visitation for Alice A. Vetter will be held Friday, November 4, 2022, from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. in the Oberlin-Turnbull Funeral Home, 706 North Main Street, Hicksville. Funeral Mass will be held Saturday, November 5, 2022, at 10:30 a.m. in St. Michael Catholic Church, Hicksville with Father Dan Borgelt officiating. Interment will follow in Forest Home Cemetery.
