Deadly Accident On The Tracks

A man dies in DeKalb County after getting hit by a train. Central Communications was contacted by Norfolk Southern in reference to an individual that was trespassing on the train tracks.
While a deputy was heading to the complaint, another call was received…advising the male had been struck by an Amtrak train near US 6 and CR 47. It was determined the Amtrak train was traveling eastbound at approximately 77 mph and struck the male while he was running on the tracks. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene. The DeKalb County Coroner’s Office has been called in the case. The incident remains under investigation.
