Lola B. Mercer, 96, of Hicksville, Ohio, passed away Sunday, April 2, 2023, at Hillside Country Living, Bryan, Ohio. Lola was born July 11, 1926, in Hicksville, Ohio, daughter of the late Granville and Carmy (Gilcher) Green. She was a 1944 graduate of Farmer High School. Lola married Ernest G. Mercer on June 1, 1952, and he preceded her in death on October 3, 2007. In addition to being a homemaker, she worked as a bookkeeper for Mentzer’s 5 & 10 and Fuller Oil Company. Lola was a member of the Logan United Methodist Church for over 56 years, and more recently a member of West Milford Church of Christ, Hicksville. She served in various roles at her church, including Sunday School teacher. She also served as an organist and pianist at various other churches over her lifetime. Lola loved music and was also a very talented artist and illustrator. She was a former member of the Farmer American Legion Ladies Auxiliary.
Lola is survived by her close friends and distant relatives. Lola was preceded in death by her parents; and by her loving husband of nearly 55 years, Ernest.
In keeping with Lola’s wishes, private graveside services were held in Maple Grove Cemetery, Edgerton, where she was laid to rest next to Ernest. Oberlin-Turnbull Funeral Home, 706 North Main Street, Hicksville, has been entrusted with Lola’s arrangements.
