Grant funding is helping the Northwest Ohio Juvenile Detention, Training and Rehabilitation Center complete some needed updates. Officials say the center received more than $600,000 dollars in grant funding from Department of Youth Services that will fund most of the two-phase project. The first phase of the project has been bid out. Aspects include replacing the center’s chillers, which cool the facility. The lighting will also have a change over to LED lighting, which will save money. Most of the windows in the facility will be replaced, including in the cells and pods. Some of these windows have gaps around the seals. Phase one is estimated to cost $302,680 dollars. The project will also involve installing an automation system of the facility. The chillers expected to take 30 weeks to arrive once they are ordered. They can’t be ordered until after the board approves the final contract for the work.
