Delmar C. Anderson, 92

Delmar Anderson, age 92, of Cecil, Ohio, passed away on Tuesday, March 5, 2024 at Community Health Professionals Inpatient Hospice Center near Defiance, Ohio.

Those who knew him- knew him as a loving father and husband, a full professor (Boston University), actor, director, artistic director and proprietor of the Huchinson Summer Theater in Raymond, New Hampshire (“only 260 miles from Broadway”) from 1967-1971.

He left the groves of academia for “the real thing” in 1977, a change that landed him a spot on the Phil Donahue Show about people who drastically changed their lives- from teaching to raising farm animals and cheese making.

He loved swimming and his annual gig of playing Santa Claus at the Lamprey Elementary School in Raymond, N.H.  He was a natural, no fake beard needed.

He returned to his native Ohio in 1998 and continued homesteading.

He will be fondly remembered for his brilliance, for being the youngest Eagle Scout from Edgerton, Ohio at age 14, a champion debater at The Ohio State University, where he earned his PhD, and most especially for his caring for others and his wicked sense of humor.

The world is a bit less bright with his passing.

According to Delmar’s wishes there will be no visitation or services held. Krill Funeral Service, 860 West Mulberry Street, Bryan has been entrusted with his arrangements.
