James C. Wallace, 92, of Montpelier, passed away on Wednesday, October 16, 2024 at Defiance Area Inpatient Hospice Center in Defiance. He was born on October 15, 1932 in Montpelier to Chester and Allie (Alpaugh) Wallace. James graduated from Montpelier High School and went on to honorably serve his country in the United States Army during the Korean War. In November of 1952 he married the love of his life, D. Lynne Lockhart and she preceded him in death on August 1, 2022.
James worked at Mohawk Tools in Montpelier for nearly 20 years before deciding to go back to Palmer College in Davenport, Iowa to obtain his Doctor of Chiropractic degree. James opened Dr. James Wallace, Chiropractic in Hicksville before moving the practice to downtown Montpelier, where it remained until his retirement.
James is survived by his four children, Vicki (Fred) Ballard of Fort Wayne, IN, Peggy Dunseth of St. Peters, MO, Molly (Perry) Startzman and Anna Stark, all of Montpelier; seven grandchildren, Jamie, Mike, Stacey, Melissa, Matthew, Joshua and Jennifer; 14 great grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Lynne Wallace; son, Andy Wallace; brother, William Wallace; and sisters, Iris Pace, Anna Lightbody, Elsie Palmer, Darwina Wallace and Theda Clark
James will be laid to rest in a private service at Floral Grove Cemetery in Pioneer, Ohio. Memorials may be given in James’ memory to Defiance Area Inpatient Hospice Center or Williams County Veteran’s Memorial.
