Marilyn Dee “Suz” Held, age 89, of Edon, Ohio, passed away on Tuesday, December 17, 2024, at the Community Health Professionals Inpatient Hospice Center near Defiance. Suz was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and was very active there. She began the church newsletter, prepared the weekly bulletin and was a member of the Rosary Altar Society. She worked as a phone operator in Edon and also worked at the Montpelier Hospital. She volunteered as an election poll worker for many years, as a prayer partner at WINM Christian TV station, was active in Women’s AGLOW and served as their president and the annual Bryan Area Prayer Breakfast. She also served the community as an EMT in the first squad in Edon.
Marilyn was born on August 29, 1935, on the family farm near Edon, the daughter of Walter E. and Osaa Mae (Hixson) Kinnison. Suz was a 1953 graduate of Edon High School. She married her high school sweetheart, LeRoy F. Held on October 9, 1954, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Blakeslee and he preceded her in death on December 10, 2021.
Suz is survived by her three daughters, Lucinda and Allen Faulhaber of Edon, Debora and Marc Grisier, of Toledo, Ohio, and Sandra and Paul Reese, of Raleigh, North Carolina; one son, Robert and Kathryn Held, of Defiance, Ohio; eleven grandchildren, AmberLeigh Faulhaber, Adaleigh Faulhaber, Jordan and Kristen Faulhaber, Grant and Jessica Grisier, Cole Grisier, Hunter Reese, Alexandra and Robert Grabek, Tyler and Savanna Reese, Gracie Held, Avery Held and Jack Mortier; nine great-grandchildren, Ava, Asher, Amelia, Aurora, Samantha, William, Jackson, Sutton and Kinnison; brother, Earl Marion Kinnison, of Stroh, Indiana; sisters-in-law, Barbara Kinnison, of Berrien Springs, Michigan, Wanda Held, of Edon, Irene Brooks, of Perrysburg and Rosemary (Lee) Witter, of Defiance; brother-in-law, Ronald (Penny) Held, of Loveland, Ohio and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; sisters, Emmadale (George) Julien, Lelamae (Carlton) Newman, Rachel (Omer) Keller, Anna Lou (Robert) Carpenter and Grasia Ellen Kinnison; brothers, Adrian, James and John Kinnison; sisters-in-law, Louise Kinnison, Erma (Clarence) Wuebben, and LaRue (Keith) Reitzel and brothers-in-law, Richard Held and Melvin (Willene) Held.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, December 22, 2024 from 2:00-5:00 P.M. at Krill Funeral Home, 204 West Indiana Street, Edon, Ohio. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, December 23, 2024 at 2:00 P.M. at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Blakeslee with Reverend Andrew Wellmann officiating. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.
