Power Spike

A power glitch Thursday morning around 1 o’clock caused a spike in current that many people may not have even noticed while they slept.

According to The Bryan Times, a capacitor at the Lockwood Road substation detected a surge and acted to reduce it, as it should.

The problem came in when the energy provider also detected the same surge and did the same thing, at the same time.

That overloaded the capacitor and caused the spike.

According to officials, recent weather may have also had a hand in it.
