The Ohio State Highway Patrol reported 23 deaths in 20 fatal crashes during the four-day Labor Day weekend. The reporting period began at midnight Friday, Aug. 29, and ended at 11:59 p.m. Monday, Sept. 1.According to OSHP, preliminary statistics show at least four of the 20 fatal crashes were related to operating a vehicle impaired. OSHP said troopers made 398 impaired driving arrests and 67 drug-related arrests during the holiday period. Of the fatalities where a seat belt was available, seven victims were not wearing one, according to OSHP. Troopers issued 1,872 safety belt violations during the four-day reporting period.
