School Make-Up Calls For Longer Days

They’ve got to be made up somehow…

School days in Bryan Schools will get a bit longer beginning March 31st. On the good side, kids will be happy to hear that because of the longer days, the school year will also end a bit earlier.

The Bryan Times reports that the Bryan City Board of Education on Monday, approved a plan to extend the school days by a half hour to make up for days lost this winter due to the weather.

All in all, the school lost 17 days this year.

Five of the 17 days are waived by the state as annual calamity days, three days were made up through “blizzard bag” out-of-school assignments, and an additional four days were approved by the state legislature March 12, leaving the district five days short.

To make them up, beginning Monday, March 31 through May 30th, the school day will be extended by one half hour, beginning 15 minutes earlier and concluding 15 minutes later. That will make up four of the days.

The final day will be made up by having school on Good Friday, April 18, but with an early dismissal.
