Former owner of a Hocking Hills rental cabin will spend the next six to nine years behind bars.

The former owner of a Hocking Hills rental cabin will spend the next six to nine years behind bars after he hid a camera in the cabin bathroom, capturing video of dozens of guests. Jason Yard of Akron had pleaded no contest to one felony count of illegal use of a minor in nudity-oriented material. He had faced a maximum of eight to 12 years in prison. As part of a plea agreement, the prosecutors and defense submitted a joint recommendation for a four- to six-year prison term, but the judge sentenced him higher, citing the severity of the crime. The hidden camera was discovered last February by a family staying at Yard’s “Sly Fox Lodge”. Detectives then tracked the camera back to Yard who had owned the property since 2019. They found files containing videos of more than 50 guests, including 13 children. In court, Yard admitted to hiding the camera but said it started out as security for the cabin.
