Cecelia E. Rittenhouse, 71 years, of Bryan, passed away suddenly, Monday, March 24, 2014 in the emergency room at Mercy St. Vincent Medical Center, Toledo. Cecelia was born May 7, 1942 in Newark, Ohio, the daughter of the late Victor and Effie E. (Lewis) Cahill. She was a 1959 graduate of Bryan High School. Cecelia earned her Associates Degree in Business Management from Northwest Technical College. She was only six weeks away from earning her Bachelor’s Degree from Northwest State at the time of her passing. Cecelia married Raymond Rittenhouse on November 5, 1960 in St. Patrick Catholic Church, Bryan, and he preceded her in death on March 10, 1963. She worked for the past 42 years at the former Hayne Albion Company, which was most recently Trim Trends until the plant closed in 2011. She was a faithful and devoted member of St. Patrick Catholic Church and the Ladies Circle at Church. She was also a member of the Bryan Business and Professional Women as well as the Bryan Lioness Club.
Surviving is her son, Joe A. (Angela) Rittenhouse of Winston-Salem, North Carolina; two grandsons, Joseph and John Rittenhouse; one sister, Margaret (Lamar) Cummins of Bryan, Ohio; sister-in-law, Nadia Rittenhouse of Bryan as well as several nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her trusted friends and neighbors, Todd (Amy) Davis and LeAnn Siebenaler both of Bryan. She was preceded in death by her parents, stepfather, Rupert Fiig, who raised Cecelia from a small child, and her husband, Raymond.
Graveside funeral services for Cecelia E. Rittenhouse will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, March 31, 2014 at Fountain Grove Cemetery, Bryan with Father Jim Halleron officiating. There will not be any visitation. Arrangements are under the care of Oberlin-Turnbull Funeral Home-Greensien Chapel, 225 East High Street, Bryan.
