At its meeting on Monday, the Archbold Village Council was given a presentation about the local fire service. In honor of the Archbold-German Township Fire Department’s 150th anniversary of operation, assistant chief Kyle Brodbeck spoke to the council. Among the subjects discussed were early Sauder Woodworking fires, a downtown fire, and a booze runner truck that was confiscated in 1923 and turned into the department’s first motorized unit. The department will commemorate its 150th anniversary on August 7-9 with a concert, procession, and drone display, among other events.
