Wilma Bernath, 82

Wilma M. Bernath, 82 years, of West Unity, passed away Friday, May 16, 2014 at Hillside Country Living, where she had been a resident the past two years.  Wilma was born November 28, 1931 in Ney, Ohio, the daughter of the late Fred and Alta Mae (Brubaker) Durham.  She was a 1949 graduate of Ney High School.  She married Robert E. Bernath on February 15, 1953, and he preceded her in death on July 15, 1993.  Wilma worked for Superior Carbon in West Unity for 31 years.  She then went to work for Gendron in Archbold, retiring in 1991 after 14 years of service.  She was a member of the West Unity United Methodist Church.  She enjoyed playing bingo and traveling and spending time with her children and grandchildren.

Surviving is her daughter, Ann M. (Fred) Bleikamp – Spicer of West Unity; one son, Allan (Peggy) Bernath of West Unity; four grandchildren, Philip (Bobbie) Bleikamp of West Unity, Dan (Ginny) Bleikamp of West Unity, Jonathan (Nicole) Bernath of Pioneer and Marcia Bernath of Fort Lauderdale, Florida; seven great grandchildren and one great-great-grandson; one sister, Norma (Bob) Jones of Edgerton.  She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, Ruth Kretzer and Betty Dunseth and one brother, Donald Durham.

Visitation for Wilma M. Bernath will be held Tuesday, May 20, 2014 from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. in the Oberlin-Turnbull Funeral Home, 202 North Liberty Street, West Unity where funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, May 21, 2014 in the funeral home with Pastor Ric Beals officiating.  Interment will follow in Floral Grove Cemetery, West Unity.
