Mahlon L. Williams, age 92, of Wauseon, Ohio, and formerly of Peoria, Illinois, passed away Saturday, July 19, 2014 at Heartland of Wauseon. Prior to his retirement in 1983 he had worked for the Pabst Brewing Company in Peoria Heights, Illinois, for 25 years.
Mahlon was born in Averyville, Illinois on March 30, 1922, the son of Louis R. and Oretta P. (O’Hara) Williams. On August 18, 1951 he married Virginia May Sommers, and she survives. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Lehigh Acres, Florida. Mahlon enjoyed woodcarving, woodworking and yard work.
Surviving is his wife, Virginia, daughters Celeste A. Woerner of Wyoming, IL, and Angela M. (Stan) Stutzman of Wauseon, and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Also surviving is his sister, Jane O. Hills of Oquawka, IL and brother, Merwin R. Williams of Bellevue, IL. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Guy D. Williams and son-in-law, Eldon H. Woerner.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 P.M. until 6:00 P.M. on Thursday, July 24, 2014 in the chapel at Crossroads Evangelical Church in Wauseon, where the funeral service will follow at 6:00 P.M., with Pastor Matt Boyers, officiating. Interment will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Monday, July 28, 2014 in the Springdale Cemetery in Peoria, Illinois, with Pastor Brett Woerner, officiating. The family request that memorial contributions be given to Crossroads Evangelical Church. Edgar-Grisier Funeral Home in Wauseon has been entrusted with arrangements.
