Don Matthews, 64

Don D. Mathews, age 64, of Wauseon, passed away Friday, August 15, 2014 at the Defiance Area Inpatient Care Center. Don owned and operated Mathews Painting in Wauseon for over 40 years. He was also currently serving as a member of the Wauseon City Council. This was his ninth year on City Council.

Don was born in Coldwater, Michigan on October 30, 1949, the son of Jerry and Lamoine (Keeslar) Mathews. On July 10, 1971 he married Sue Beck, and she survives. He was an Air Force Veteran. Don loved baseball and played in the Roy Hobbs league for nine years, from 1998 – 2007.

Surviving is his wife, Sue; daughter Tasha (Darin) Seiler of Archbold; granddaughter, Ashtyn Mathews, three grandsons, Gavin, Jayden and Bronsyn Seiler; sisters, Brenda Rambo of Zepherhills, FL and Pat (Jim) Kleck of Jacksonville, FL, mother-in-law, Ann Beck of Archbold and special friend, Chris Wheeler. He was preceded in death by his son, Ryan C. Mathews and his parents.

The family will receive friends at the Edgar-Grisier Funeral Home on Friday August 29, 2014 from 2:00-8:00pm. Funeral services will be private.
