Solar Electric Power Association on Tuesday announced that Bryan Municipal Utilities has been ranked on the association’s annual Top 10 list of American electric utilities that have added the most new solar power to their systems and the most solar on a watts-per-customer basis in 2012.
Bryan Municipal Utilities broke ground for its 14-acre solar array in early December 2011. The solar plant started generating power on Bryan’s electrical grid by mid-February 2012. Generation in 2012 equaled enough to power 278 average homes.
Bryan Municipal Utilities is a customer-owned, non-profit municipal utility providing approximately 6,000 customers with water, electric, and communications services in Bryan.
