New Wauseon Mayor Appointed

In Wauseon, four-term Coun­cil­man Kathy Huner was appointed Thurs­day to serve as city mayor.

Huner will fill the unex­pired term of Mayor Doug Shaw, who announced Oct. 6 that he will retire effec­tive Nov. 3.

Huner is chair of the city’s safety and code com­mit­tee, and is a mem­ber of the park and util­ity com­mit­tees, and is also on the Com­mu­nity Rein­vest­ment Area Hous­ing Coun­cil.

Born and raised in Wauseon, Huner was a teacher for 29 years.

Huner lives in Wauseon with her hus­band, Lind­say, and has two chil­dren, Mitchell and Kait­lyn.

She will be sworn in to her new post dur­ing council’s reg­u­lar ses­sion Nov. 3.
