Wasuseon is moving forward with plans to remove breed-specific language from the city dog ordinance.
On Monday night, a meeting was held in which it was decided that the change would make pit bulls and pit bull mixes no longer deemed vicious — prompting registration and insurance requirements — by virtue of breed alone.
The change in the law would bring Wauseon inline with state law, which did away with breed-specific legislation in 2012.
According to the Crescent News, the decision was made following a presentation by Tasha Grieser, a certified dog trainer with northwest Ohio’s Better Friends Dog Training, which provides dog training services in Defiance, Henry, Williams and Fulton counties.
