At Monday’s Defiance City Board of Education meeting, discussion centered around the construction project that is planned, along with an eminent domain resolution which was approved.
The district plans to soon submit documents to the Ohio Facilities Construction Commission for the schematic design phase at the grade 6–12 site. A 12,000-square-foot addition is also planned for the elementary school. Groundbreaking could begin this fall, with a completion date of approximately December 2017.
The board also exercised eminent domain by approving a resolution declaring the necessity to appropriate land for construction of new school building, related facilities and improvements. That resolution will affect 4.2 acres owned by Talmer and Sandra Hillman on Palmer Drive with an appraised fair market value of $115,000.
