BMU Cable Rates

As of last night, it is now official… Bryan Municipal Utilities cable rates are increasing.

The Bryan Board of Public Affairs, during their regular monthly meeting which was held yesterday, unanimously voted to raise monthly basic cable costs from $18.75 to $21.65.

According to the Bryan Times, along with the jump in the basic cable rate, the utilities’ extended basic package will increase from $56.90 to $60.25, and the digital basic from $10.55 to $11.

Other packages, like those for hotels and motels, healthcare facilities and multi-residential dwellings will increase as well. Board members say it’s simply a matter of passing on increasing costs. It was last year that the board voted to pull two local Fort Wayne channels, in order to avoid more price increases. Letters will soon be distributed to all cable customers letting them know of the changes.
