WILLIAMS CONSIDERING NEW CARDIAC MONITORS

Emergency Medical Director Jim Hicks presented Williams County Commissioners with an $81,678 proposal Thursday morning for eight new Phillips Electronics MRx Cardiac monitors.

Hicks says the current monitors are ten years old, they’ve been upgraded once, and maintenance costs have become prohibitive.

Hicks told the Commissioners that the new MRx models will also connect to the hospital.

According to The Bryan Times, the total cost for the new monitors will be $178,678, but the county will not get stuck with the entire bill. A $15,000 state grant, funded by fines from seat belt violations is expected to cover part of the cost, and the old monitors have a trade-in value of $32,000. Community Hospitals and Wellness Centers also pledged $50,000 toward the purchase.

The commissioners agreed to consider the purchase agreement once it has been reviewed by the county prosecutor.
