Lots of road work is planned for this year on Defiance County. In fact, the total of the projects that are planned not rings up to about $3.5 million worth, with the largest being the widening of Harris Road, between Ohio 18 and Blanchard Road. Other plans include paving Blosser Road, between The Bend Road and Ohio 15; Whetstone Road, between County Road 24 and Defiance-Paulding County Line Road; and Breckler Road, from Christy Road east one-half mile. Five bridge projects are also planned at an estimated cost of $300,000. They include bridge replacements at Openlander and Jericho roads, on Hicksville-Edgerton Road, south of Buckskin Road; on Hoffman Road, east of Hill Road; on Independence Road, south of Behrens Road; and at Conkle and Graber roads.
The county also will dedicate $75,348 this year for crack sealing to help extend road pavement life and $95,368 for pavement markings. In addition, many county and township roades will be chip/sealed this year.
